San Francisco Bay Bridge Toll Plaza

The San Francisco Bay Bridge Toll Plaza construction upgrade required Olson Steel to provide steel reinforcement for the existing canopy as well as fabrication and erection of the new canopy.

San Francisco Cruise Ship Terminal

The San Francisco Cruise Ship Terminal construction was managed by Turner Construction. The city's new $90 million cruise ship terminal was constructed in two phases, with Phase I preparing the facility for the America's Cup and Phase II completing the construction of the site work for the opening of the new San Francisco Cruise Ship Terminal.

Cathedral Drive Bridge

The Cathedral Drive Bridge was a unique project where Olson Steel handled the detailing, fabrication and erection of the structural steel for the new bridge and the steel railing installed with the bridge.

San Joaquin Pipeline- Western

San Joaquin Pipeline System is San Francisco Public utilities Commission's water transmission facility that spans nearly 48 miles. Olson Steel worked with the engineers to help model the project and coordinate the erection plan to install over the existing aqueduct.

Oakland Airport BART Connector

An Automated Guideway Transit (AGT) system was determined to be the preferred technology for the BART to OAK project. The AGT concept refers to an array of transit technologies. The common elements are that they operate within their own guide ways, have stations physically integrated with the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART Station as well as the airport terminal, and do not require a vehicle operator.

San Jose Airport Canopies

After the completion of the San Jose Airport expansion, Olson Steel was contracted to erect the complex canopies at the airport. After completing the architecturally complex canopies at the Oakland Airport, Olson was able to incorporate its past experience to complete the project on time and on budget with a satisfied customer.

San Francisco International Airport Terminal 2

This project was an extensive renovation project to convert Terminal 2 into a state-of-the-art domestic terminal. The terminal, which formerly housed international flights, had been closed since 2000 when SFO opened the current International Terminal.

Devil's Slide Tunnel Operations Building

The Devil's Slide project is located on State Route 1 in San Mateo County. This project constructed approximately 1,981 linear miles of new alignment along State Route 1 and featured two parallel tunnels, approaches, two cantilever bridges, and an operations and maintenance building.

West Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station

The West Dublin / Pleasanton Bay Area Rapid Transit station includes 1200 parking spaces, 210 housing units, office space, and a hotel. The station is located in the median of Interstate 580, between the Castro Valley and Dublin/Pleasanton stations. Olson Steel provided the structural steel package for the station including the pedestrian bridges that were erected over both directions of the freeway.

Union City BART- Intermodal Station

Once a contaminated site that housed a Pacific States Steel plant, this land now features a 216-unit apartment complex called Pacific Terrace. Next to that is Station Center -- the new 157-unit, affordable-housing building, all surrounding the Union City BART Station.

 

San Jose Airport

Olson Steel provided the structural steel for the expansion of the San Jose Airport. This difficult project with a demanding schedule proposed many challenges for Olson Steel. The design of this project required large box columns with 1 " cover plates, which required 33 feet of continuous weld on four sides.
